Historic Bosworth Battlefield site under threat

Hi, All

I just received the below email from Tracy Bryce of the Canadian Chapter of the RIII Society, and I think it will be of interest to this group. I also believe that if members of the RIII Society in Canada are welcome to write to the pertinent municipal or planning authority in their personal capacities, as Ms. Bryce directs us to do, then any interested persons anywhere should be able to write to express their concerns.

Dear Members,

Sadly, we have learned today of plans to build on part of the historic Bosworth Battlefield site, where King Richard lost his life 533 years ago yesterday.

While the public consultation period for this has now ended, we are hoping that if enough objections are raised, even at this late stage, the council will take note and reject this application.

Further to the Mailing sent out earlier today we have been informed that the email addresses given are bouncing back 'Out of Office' replies. Please now forward your emails objecting to the building on Bosworth Battlefield to the following:

helen.knott@... (Case officer)

and copy to

planning@...

Please quote planning reference 18/00425FUL

The planning meeting regarding this application is to be held next Tuesday 28th August, so time is very much of the essence.

Please also be aware that our Chairman, Dr Phil Stone, will be contacting the Council on behalf of the Society, so your emails should come from you personally, not the Society.

Thanks Johanne. This has been causing quite a stir on FB Ricardian pages for the last 24 hours. Hoping that something can be done, since Glenn Foard & Mike Ingram both believe there is significant archaeology yet to be done in the area included in the plan. The BBHC is not terribly concerned since they are well away from the site determined by 21st century archaeology to be where the battle actually occurred.
