Brampton & Isobel
Wouldn't there be a record of an annulment in Rome? Nico wrote: I now think that the only explanation is that Sir William Pecche of Lullingstone was married to Isabel, but the marriage was annulled. Afterwards she married Brampton. However, are the any indications as to what the grounds for the annulment could have been? I would imagine it would be something like coercion or misrepresentation. As far as I can see, they were unrelated.
Re: Brampton & Isobel
Annulments were generally obtained at the court of one's local bishop. Some of these records survive and some don't.
