Richard's Chart

So frustrating - I'm catching up with you all, starting with last Monday, and want to contribute to the astrology thread - In my wildly varied youth, I took classes with Carroll Righter, who taught that, when there was no available time of birth, it was best to go with 12 noon. My personal conviction is that astrology is a character roadmap, not a reliable fortune telling crutch - after all, one wouldn't send a loved child out the door to China without a road map, I should hope. Personally, I've been known to read jewlery and cards, but that's a different Highland road. It's been long time, and as curious as I am, I have no time to research a progressed chart - but it might be interesting to see what aspects were in effect on key dates in the record - June 13, particularly - and during that first Progress, when Buckingham caught up with him as as he was heading home to Wales and Morton. And Easter, (a moveable feast) 1483, 1484 and 1485, of course - a really bad time of the year for our man. Oh, and is it possible that Morton was held in custody until Buckingham could escort him to Wales? Or was he sent straight on? If this is too much astrology for a new thread and you have a response, contact me directly, of course. Thanks! Wish I had more time to spend with you all.

Hi Nance,

'A character roadmap' is an excellent description of what astrology can do. I also generally use 12 noon if I have no idea of the ascendant. If there is an indication, I will have try rectification, but it can be a tedious process and the results vary. I think William of Worcester is not too far off with 9:02, but it didn't work so well for some events, so I have considered a few other times with Scorpio rising. I'm going to start again and compare them all. The Morton question is difficult with no definite date of birth for him, but I might try some horaries for difficult questions.
By the way, did Rous ever mention a birth time for Anne? My calculations indicate that she may have been born shortly before midnight, but with so little known about her, there wasn't much to work with.

I'm not sophisticated enough for progressed charts but here is a link I found to an interesting interpretation of his birth chart.http://ephemeralarc.blogspot.com/2016/10/king-richard-iii-part-1.html?m=1
Note He had his midheaven in the Royal sign of Leo conjunct the regal star Regulus.

If there are better astrologers on here than myself, I'm wondering if HT had signs of Kingship in his chart.

I wasn't sure whether Neil meant that all astrology was unwelcome on the forum or that the sexual references had lowered the tone of that particular thread. We have had one or two civilized discussions about astrology before. I remember one a few years ago about Margaret Beaufort, where I compared the 1441 and 1443 charts and concluded that 1441 was probably correct. There were no complaints then, and it does seem a shame to put a total ban on any subject. Obviously, if Neil feel that astrology is not appropriate for the forum, then we will have to respect that. For now, I will avoid it, and if and when I complete Richard and Henry's charts, I will post them in the files for those who are interested.
