They were
brothers after all!

Edward also showed disregard to the feelings of women
who he seduced and dumped.

Is there any evidence that Edward treated the people
in his life with sensitivity or consideration?

The impression I get is that he treated people like
pawns in a chess game.

If anyone can suggest sources that show Edward
behaving differently, I'll read them and modify my
opinion.

TIA!

Greetings All,

I was wondering if anyone had any information on the manner of Edward
IV's death being related to poison. Annette Carson supposedly referenced this in
her book, "Richard III: The Maligned King," which I am trying to get on
library loan. If you have the reference information or any other sources for this
theory I would very much appreciate your help.
Thank you.

Best Regards,
Virginia

i have read somewhere that louis xi..the universal spider, king of france, may have poisoned e4. he sent a keg of wine or kegs. the wine was rumoured to have been poisoned.

the event occurred shortly after the failed marriage contract between elizabeth of york and louis's son charles. charles eventually went on to marry anne of brittany who had been betrothed to e5. louis broke the contract as a treaty or an alliance with the burgundians, i think. the wine was supposed to be a peace offering.

if i correctly recall it was alexander dumas, who wrote the three muskateers, who may have made the statement in one of his fictional books...don't hold me to this, i am writing from the top of my head, and it's gone past midnight.

Hi Virginia

Annette Carson "in 1996 Richard Collins of the University of Cambridge published a short treatise outlining his suspicions that Edward might have been poisoned"

Richard E Collins, "The Death of Edward IV" part ll of Secret History, J Dening and R E Collins (Suffolk 1996)

Hi Virginia - Ive finally tracked down where you can get a copy of 'Secret History'. Its available from Richard lll Museum in York. Im going to get a copy myself. It sounds quite interesting. The book was written by John Denning but has the treatise by Richard Collins included in it.
